Conflict between two houses Recently on the public streets of Verona, a street fight broke out, involving two members of the Montague family, named Romeo, and Mecrutio, and a member of the Capulet family, Tybalt. Casualties have been reported as Tybalt and Mecrutio being killed. Romeo have been sentenced to be banished by the Prince. The conflict started as a duel between Tybalt and Romeo. However, for unknown reasons, Romeo has chosen not to fight. Mecrutio, angered by Romeo’s cowardice, chose to fight Tybalt himself, which in the end inflicted upon him a fatal wound. The wound, if treated earlier, might have been able to be sealed up to stop the bleeding. Unfortunately, all of Mecrutio’s friends have not been quick to see the wound and Mecrutio has died for the lack of blood. Romeo, being Mecrutio’s best friend, tries to seek up revenge, and in a duel of death, Romeo slew Tybalt in a stroke towards the heart. Usually such actions call for the punishment of death, but our fair Prince of this beautiful city sees the actions as it is, and prepares to deem the punishment as a lighter sentence…banishment. There are many questions asked though, why has Tybalt challenged Romeo to a duel? Why was Romeo unwilling to fight? Many questions still await answers, and authorities have been investigating details for this incident.
